Hi Lizzie,

I've only just caught up with your post. I am absolutely horrified that this can happen, your poor uncle. Pleased to hear he's on the mend now and the little cottage hospital out in the woods sounds like an ideal place to recover.

Hope your stress levels are going downThumbDown and that the naughty Arthur keeps at bayThumpUp

love,

Barbara

Hi Lizzie

Sorry, I've only just caught up with this post as well, and was horrified to read what had happened. Thank goodness your uncle seems to be well on the road to recovery, but how awful for you all to have to go through all this when it could so easily have been avoided.

Dear Lizzie, I was so glad to read of your Uncle's improvement after his
terrible problems with being given the wrong medication!
I am so glad that he seems to be getting better again.
The Cottage Hospital sounds lovely with the Trees etc.
You and your sister have been so kind and caring towards your dear Uncle.
Best wishes,
Fiona

So very sad especially after positives yesterday - but unfortunately today is not a good day.

I went in earlier today before a meeting at work and Uncle L seemed sleepy and not such a good colour - everyone was having their after-dinner nap / quiet time. We talked a little but not bright like yesterday. He knew who i was though and when it was time for me to go he waved to me all the way to the door,
My sister rang me a little while ago now and sadly it seems likely that tonight he may have had a stroke - tests show raised levels of creatine and some other concerns. We will know more results tomorrow, feel a bit shell shocked tonight - it just seems so sad and sudden even tho' he was not in the best of health before - he did have good quality of life, and especially as good improvements yesterday.
Sadly, chances of another stroke are very high - its all connected with renal failure.
Will see him again tomorrow, prognosis is not good, my work are being very good and understanding about my family caring needs,

My sister and I have a family "conflab" tomorrow morning, trying to sort out plan to manage things or at least drink lots of coffee and i got some choc ready to take with me - i mustn't forget i am banned from my sis's wheat free custard creams, they cost almost £2 a packet!

thank you all for your continued care and support xx

thank you everyone xx
I visited yesterday on my way to work and Uncle L knew who i was, which was nice as i really didnt know what to expect. He'd decided to leave his dinner untouched but called for his plate back as I came in and ate a few mouthfuls and then drank a whole cuppa tea (...to make me happy i think, bless him xx)
We are going for a scan on Monday to check stroke signs etc - i am going with him on the hospital transport. This will be like old times for me, i used to do this regularly when i was about 16years old working with older people in a local nursing home .
I've taken the day off on Monday - Ive done so much work at home recently so able to use time owing,

Thank you so much for your prayers - my uncle goes to church regularly and he's looking forward to a visit from the vicar soon. The vicar visited last week but missed Uncle L, instead sat with me for half an hour and we discussed running techniques and he's going to get involved helping with sponsors! He wrote to Uncle L a coupla days ago to say he is planning to visit as soon as he returns from being whisked away by his wife, on a surprise birthday visit to Rome.

The girls are writing to Uncle L - its so difficult for him being deaf and he has lost interest in the paper but still loves his letters, he will be getting an update on my way to work today - this ones all about school exams, 6th form visit, trampolining and frogspawn! xxxxx
